Speech therapy is a regulated profession in Spain. No homologation, no registration; no registration, no practice.
ANECA does not listen to your patients. It reads your syllabus. And it compares it subject by subject.
Homologation to the Grado en Logopedia is assessed against the criteria of Orden CIN/726/2009: which competences your degree covers, how many placement hours you can evidence, and what content on voice, hearing, language, swallowing and clinical intervention appears in your programme. If the transcript does not demonstrate it, ANECA does not assume it. And where it sees gaps it can impose complementary training requirements: placements, courses, a project or an aptitude test. That is not a whim of whoever is on duty — it is what your file says when the only thing in front of the assessor is paper.

From your degree to the consulting room: the stages
Auditing the file
Degree, transcript, syllabus, placement hours, apostilles and translations, read against Orden CIN/726/2009 before anything is submitted.
Application and assessment
Filed online with the Ministry. ANECA compares your training with the Spanish Grado en Logopedia. Currently 9 to 24 months depending on the file.
Requerimientos or training requirements
If gaps are found they may ask for further documents or impose complementary training. Answered with a strategy, not in a hurry.
Credential and registration
With the credential you register with the Colegio de Logopedas of your region. Without registration there is no lawful practice.
What almost nobody explains about homologating a speech therapy degree
This is what separates a file that goes through from one that comes back with requerimientos or with complementary training requirements attached.

Requirements for speech therapy homologation in 2026
The file is submitted online to the Ministry, within the framework of RD 889/2022. These are the pillars.
Legalised degree
The original, apostilled under the Hague Convention or legalised through consular channels if your country is not a signatory, scanned in the format the portal accepts.
Transcript and syllabus
Subjects, hours and content, with the competences of Orden CIN/726/2009 identifiable in them, plus evidence of supervised placements.
Sworn translation
Every document not in Spanish needs translating by a traductor jurado recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Documents from Spanish-speaking countries do not.
Identity, fee and language
A valid passport, payment of the official fee and, for nationals of countries where Spanish is not an official language, the corresponding Spanish language certificate.

We read your syllabus the way ANECA is going to read it: looking for where the competences, the content or the placement hours do not add up against the Spanish degree. We tell you what is missing, what needs an apostille, what needs translating, and in what order.
If a requerimiento has already arrived, or a decision imposing complementary training, or a refusal, we take the case over from wherever it is — and we stay to the registration, which is the step that actually lets you see patients.
We are not the administration and we do not act on its behalf: we are the ones who prepare your case so the administration has nowhere to stop it.
The questions people ask before they start
My degree says fonoaudiología. Does that leave me out?
No. It is the same profession under a different name, and the name on the certificate is not what decides anything. What decides it is whether the content of your training — voice, hearing, language, swallowing, clinical intervention — matches what the Spanish Grado en Logopedia covers, and whether your transcript demonstrates it. Plenty of perfectly qualified fonoaudiólogos get delayed not by the title but by a transcript that never spells out what they studied.
How long does it take?
The current range runs from roughly 9 to 24 months, depending on the country that issued the degree, the university, how complete the file is, and how any requerimientos are answered. A well-built file tends to the lower end; one with gaps, to the upper.
What are complementary training requirements?
When the assessment finds gaps between your training and the Spanish degree, the decision can recognise the homologation conditional on your completing complementary training — placements, courses, a project or an aptitude test. Choosing between the options offered is not trivial: some routes are far faster than others depending on your profile and where you live. And some decisions of this kind are worth arguing rather than accepting.
Can I start from my own country?
Yes. The procedure is online and does not require you to be in Spain to file it. Legal residence becomes necessary later, to register and practise — and physical presence becomes necessary sooner if you end up with placements or an aptitude test imposed. Worth planning both together rather than one after the other.
What does it cost?
The cost combines the official Ministry fee, the expense of apostilles or legalisation and sworn translation, and our fees for preparing and defending the file. There is no single tariff: it depends on the country of origin, the state of your documentation, and whether you are carrying a requerimiento or an earlier refusal. Once we have studied your case we give you a fixed quotation. Official amounts are set by the rules in force at the time of filing.
